Business View Cache

The Business View Cache feature is designed to improve the performance, particularly when many users are accessing the same visuals simultaneously. This feature ensures efficient data retrieval and a seamless user experience by effectively managing cached data.

A metadata cache is also used to store field statistics. This cached data is shared between users only if they have the same data access permissions and security context.

Caching is enabled by default for all data sources. The system does not re-query the data source unless you manually clear the cache or set up a refresh schedule.

Available cache settings and options include:

  • Data Cache: The business view caches query results and common cached data for multiple visuals using the same data source. When you create a visual using this source, the first data request is sent to the cache. If the data is available, it is returned immediately. If not, the business view queries the data source, stores the results in the cache, and displays the returned data.

  • Statistics Cache: When enabled, field metadata such as minimum, maximum, and distinct values are cached. This setting also controls the availability of the Field Statistics Configuration option and scheduled refresh settings.

You can refresh the entire data source, all the fields in a data source, or select fields in a data source.
